A Movement for Our Forgotten Heroes:
No More Silence. No More Shame.
No More Forgotten Veterans.
By Dagmarie Daniels, Life Coach & Founder of Way of the Wise Owl
Every day, countless veterans return home from serving our country and step into a new battlefield — one that’s invisible, isolating, and often misunderstood.
My husband is one of them.
As a proud Army veteran, he carries invisible wounds from years of service. He lives with chronic PTSD, social anxiety, and the daily struggle of reintegrating into a society that doesn't always understand the sacrifices he made — or the challenges he continues to face.
I’ve watched him try to hold it all together. I've seen the strength it takes just to show up in a world that’s loud, fast, and rarely accommodating. I’ve seen what happens when there aren’t enough systems of support — for the veteran, or for the family standing beside them.
And I realized: we are not the only ones.
Through my work as a certified life coach and founder of Way of the Wise Owl, I’ve connected with other spouses, families, and veterans who feel just as unseen. That’s why I’m launching Beyond Invisible Battles, a movement dedicated to raising awareness, creating safe spaces, and advocating for meaningful change — in workplaces, communities, and policies.
This is not about one story.
It’s about the many stories no one hears.
It’s about ensuring that invisible injuries are no longer ignored.
It’s about reminding the world that our veterans deserve more than thank-yous — they deserve respect, understanding, and support.
Beyond Invisible Battles exists to:
-
Shine light on the realities of PTSD and mental health after service
-
Build bridges between veterans and civilian communities
-
Empower companies and communities to create trauma-informed environments
-
Support spouses and caregivers walking this path alongside their loved ones
This is our call to action.
This is our way forward.
And this is just the beginning.
If you’ve felt alone, misunderstood, or unsupported — you’re not. We see you. We stand with you.
Join the movement. Let’s bring beyond invisible battles into the light.
